Erica is driven by her desire to be a mentor for youth. This desire sparked her vision of supporting youth who feel or have felt forgotten due to having an incarcerated parent or guardian. She has experienced the pain of having an incarcerated parent. Erica feels that it doesn’t matter how long the parent has been missing, one day or five years. Any time a parent or guardian spends away from their child adversely impacts that child’s life. Erica’s goal is to ensure youth understand that they don’t have to continue a cycle of damaging lifestyle choices, and there’s someone in their corner!
Her experience as a youth career coach moved her to choose workforce development for 11th-12th grade students. As a career coach, she sees daily the frustration youth encounter not having a reliable and supportive network. Erica always encourages youth that it’s okay to dream! Erica’s hope is to help youth realize that they can have hope and most certainly a future. They are the future! Heart of the Future, Inc.!
Erica has a bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
When she’s not mentoring and coaching youth, Erica enjoys attending church, spending time with family and teaching dance fitness classes.
